We would love to have your help in registering and informing kids about our great, fun summer reading program. We have flexible schedules available for volunteering with one to two hour shifts from June 9-August 9. Want to try out theater?! This weekend the 24 Hour Play festival will be held at STMA. ALL students who sign up will be in the production! We are looking for students who want to volunteer to help students with disabilities perform in a choir concert on Wednesday, February 26th, from 4:50-7:30 at the MSW Auditorium! The winter week Snowcial is this Saturday, February, 22nd from 8-10! Bingo, Volleyball tournament, pickleball tournament, trivia, movie in the PAC and PRIZES! The first Training Camp for Marching Band is Sunday, February 23rd, from 1-4pm, for anyone interested in joining the Marching Knights in Hornline, Colorguard or Drumline. Meet in the Band Room and wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Returning members should wear their marching shoes. If you have questions about joining the Marching Knights, see Ms. Abel in room 2222.

Community Service Deadline #1 for Seniors is this Friday 1/10/25. All forms must be turned into the office for approval and tracking. 4 hours per year at STMA is needed. Freshman will be taking the Fastbridge Reading on Wednesday, 1/8/25, during an extended homeroom schedule. Please make sure you have a charged school-issued Chromebook. You will also need wired earbuds or headphones. Talk to your homeroom teacher if you do not own any. Also, please make sure your cell phones and Smart watches are put away during testing. You will be taking the Autoreading test and the Areading test. Make sure you do both.

Official transcripts need to be requested through Parchment if you are applying directly to the college or if you applying through Direct Admissions. If you are applying through Common App, you do not need to request in Parchment, your transcript will be submitted by your counselor as long as you have invited them to your Common App. Please see your counselor with any questions.

Thursday, October 24th is the date of our fall blood drive! The fall blood drive sign ups begin Oct. 10th! You get community service and a $10 Amazon gift card if you donate blood. Volunteers are needed on Friday, Oct 4th for the Courage Retreat through Youth Frontiers at Middle School East. This full day retreat (arrive at 8am) is focused on inspiring courage and positive school community. Stop in the counseling office to sign up and get a permission slip. The deadline to sign up is Oct. 2nd. You must have your own transportation and space is limited to 30 volunteers. This counts toward community service hours.

On Wednesday, October 16th, 2024 you will have the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) at St. Michael-Albertville High School, from 8:30-12:30. This is an optional test. The PSAT is a Pre-SAT, administered to students who are in their junior year of high school. Typically, Juniors who are ranked in the top 15% percent of their class or historically have performed well on standardized testing are encouraged to take the PSAT/NMSQT. Exemplary results on this test can be used to identify elite student scholarship opportunities. Students who choose to take the test will be provided with essential information, including practice questions in the areas of reading, math, and writing. Students should review PSAT/NMSQT practice questions to be sure they are familiar with the types of questions that will be asked. - The fee for the test is $20.00
- Seats are limited and the hard registration deadline for the PSAT/NMSQT is Wednesday, October, 9th at 10 am. (Registrations will NOT be accepted after this date)
- Once capacity is full, students will be placed on a waitlist in the order of registration. Any open seats will be filled based on waitlist order.
- Students who drive may leave when testing is done. Students who need to access school transportation may stay in the building.
- This test will be administered online.

Counselors are hosting SNAP this week in the PAC to meet with seniors applying to 4-year colleges. Seniors were invited to attend based on the answers they provided in the senior survey that was emailed to your student email on Sept 9th. If you haven't completed the survey and didn't get invited but plan to apply to a 4-year college you are welcome to attend. Future SNAP sessions will be set up for seniors applying to 2-year colleges or applying for an apprenticeship. If you haven't completed the survey yet, please do so soon.

College admissions representatives from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities and the University of St. Thomas will be in the Counseling Office Career Center on Thursday, September 12th during SNAP. STMA Theater is taking auditions for our fall musical Beauty and the Beast. This includes acting, backstage, and orchestra players. Auditions are Sept 9-11 after school in the music pod.
